Dear Friends of the Georgia Children’s
Chorus,
We have Something to Sing About! The Georgia Children’s
Chorus celebrates its tenth season of song! Don’t you love celebrations?
When we celebrate we take time to reflect on beginnings, consider accomplishments
and dream about the future. Celebrating lifts our spirits and causes us
to, well . . . sing.
I have enjoyed hearing the stories from previous presidents
of how the GCC started. The GCC was founded by Dr. Elizabeth Kimble in
1998. Dr. Kimble retired in 2002 and several interim directors managed
the chorus until January 2004 when Mrs. Carol Reeves accepted the position
of director. Under Carol’s positive leadership the chorus has accomplished
growth in membership, a high level of musical excellence and a tremendous
sense of love and community spirit. The chorus has performed at various
community events and has been invited to perform at Carnegie Hall in New
York for the past two summers.
As the GCC celebrates its tenth season, we celebrate
growth in membership, fantastic leadership by Carol, devotion from Chorus
Administrator Sharon Mckillip and Chorus Accompanist Erica McClellan,
and we celebrate musical excellence. We celebrate the work of a dedicated
group of board members and advisors who are committed to the growth of
the Chorus. The primary goal of the board is fundraising for the Chorus
and this year is a special time to focus on fundraising. If you have not
yet had to opportunity to get involved with the GCC, let me encourage
you to join the celebration! Consider joining our board of directors,
or participating in our annual kitchens tour or just sharing with us your
unique ideas for fundraising.
We celebrate continued support of parents, Dr. Donald
Lowe and the Hugh Hodgson School of Music, all financial supporters and
you, the audience! Thank you being part of the Georgia Children’s
Chorus.
I know you will enjoy the performance. And when you
leave, take it with you . . . and celebrate!
Warmest regards,

Lee Evans
President of the Georgia Children’s Chorus
