The Georgia Children's Chorus gives a beautiful voice
to the children of Northeast Georgia. We are a community organization
dedicated to musical excellence by teaching children to achieve high artistic
standards through choral singing and performance. Boys and girls ages
8-18 are brought together in an atmosphere that nurtures personal growth,
teamwork, self-discipline, and confidence. Students learn to sing with
an emphasis on sight-reading, ear training, presentation and choral musicianship.
Choristers explore diverse repertoire from classical works to authentic
international, folk, and ethnic music with a professional staff and talented
guests.
The Georgia Children's Chorus is an auditioned children's
choral organization consisting of two choirs. Boys and girls ages 8-18
are selected through an interview process and placed in a choir by ability
and age.
A bright new future is ahead for the Georgia Children's
Chorus! Under new leadership, the GCC now has a permanent dedicated staff
of music educators to serve the chorus and the community. The University
of Georgia provides services, as well as rehearsal, performance and office
space through the School of Music, enabling University students to observe
and participate in training of the young singers in a lab setting. The
chorus further reaches out into the community by working with area music
specialists, choral directors, church music programs, and other organizations
to sustain and enhance the quality of music education that children in
Northeast Georgia deserve. By partnering with these organizations, we
are able to build a choral community where the goal is excellence in music,
personal accomplishment, civic pride, and community spirit.
